The Yoga Barn is Open!

Are you confused about the new government rule of six?  How does this apply to your class?  What does Covid Secure mean?  What have we done to look at the risks with regards coronavirus?

Rest assured that all classes have been fully risk assessed. We are a covid secure site and for now we are able to continue operating the yoga barn.  A few classes have been withdrawn until the crisis is under control – pregnancy, gentle years, teen yoga and insanity.  This is due to the potential higher risk to pregnant ladies and older frail persons in general.  The insanity is felt to involve increased risk from loud music, raised voices and raised respiratory rate from the high intensity exercise.  Finally both being mums, Jacqui and Em feel it is more important for youngsters to be in school or college than at their yoga class for the time being – sorry folks!

For those who are still able to join us, the class sizes have been further reduced to 11 people, giving everyone and the instructor a full 2m space between each person, with a bit more down the middle of the barn for the teacher to move around during class.  Please prebook classes in advance – preferably online or via the Mindbody App.  This is so that we can contact you if something suddenly changes.  We are required to keep your contact details by law in case of contact tracing by NHS Test and Trace.

Your temperature will be checked and you will be asked to use our lovely Bramley hand sanitiser when you arrive.  You are asked to wear a mask while moving around the building but are welcome to remove this once you are on your marked spot in the barn.  Any queries, please ask reception before class, as there is a one way system in place meaning you will be directed straight out of the building at the end of class, without being able to return to reception.  (Again there is some lovely Bramley hand sanitiser to use as you leave).

Please come ready for class as currently the shower and changing area is out of use.  The disabled loo is open if needed, with instructions on how to clean after each use and again, plenty of Bramley hand sanitiser as you exit.

Please bring your own equipment and bottle of water as we are no longer able to offer this.  However, for now we have a small amount of studio equipment available to borrow for the duration of class, while you purchase your own.  This has always been fully steam cleaned between use but now you will be asked to drop it in the sealable plastic box as you exit.

Please find below the reassurance that we are still permitted to operate in the current environment.  Rest assured that Jacqui and Em will constantly review the local and national picture and will not hesitate to change things again as the situation develops.

ukactive issued an update following the Government’s announced ‘Rule of Six’ on 10th September

Following the Government’s announcement that social gatherings of more than six people will be banned in England from 14 September, the Government has confirmed that organised sports, fitness and leisure activities that have been through COVID-secure protocols can continue, as can organised outdoor sports and physical activity events.

People can continue to use leisure facilities, including gyms and pools, and classes within these venues can continue as they are now. The new rule does mean that people should not arrive at these venues socially in groups of more than six.

Gyms, fitness, sports and leisure providers have stringent plans in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19, and these venues are classed as COVID-secure, given the measures they have introduced.

We hope you stay safe during these uncertain times.  Your safety and our staff’s safety is our number one priority.

If you have any queries, concerns or ideas then please don’t hesitate to contact Em or Jacqui to discuss further.  We always welcome your feedback.
